This add-on identifies a visitor's country based on their IP address. And based on the geo-location of the IP address , the rules set with the add-on will control a visitor's ability to access the website.

Using the Add-On
Go to: General Settings > Localization > Block Traffic by Country
This will allow website owners to block unwanted traffic from entire countries.
There are 3 options:
- Disable Setting
- Only Allow Traffic From
- Block Traffic From
Disable Setting
This will deactivate the setting from allowing or blocking specific countries. Sign ups from all countries are allowed.
Only Allow Traffic From
This will set the countries that are allowed to sign up on the website. If the country is not in the list, users in those countries will not be allowed to sign up on the website.
Block Traffic From
This will decide the countries that are not allowed to sign up on the website. If the country is not on the list, users in those countries can sign up on the website..
Adding Countries
Click on the white space and a Country List will appear:
Scroll or type in the country:
Select the country to add it to the list:
Removing Countries
Use the "X" to remove a country from the list:
Blocked Countries
When a country is blocked from the website, there is a 403 Forbidden warning:
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Even if your website only serves a single country or market, sometimes your members and visitors are accessing your website while traveling or from other locations. Be cautious when deciding to block countries.
- If you're working with staff or team members abroad, make sure you're not blocking their access to your website.
- Sometimes search engines like Google, Bing and other tools need to crawl your website from IP addresses and countries that you may have blocked. So use the tool as needed and with intent.
- Remember, you can always block and unblock countries temporarily based on your needs.
- The most practical use of this add-on is to block traffic from countries that are delivering spam to your website. When the spam stops, you may choose to unblock and allow the country again.
