Installing a Third-Party SSL Certificate
A third-party SSL certificate can be installed through cPanel and then enabled within the Brilliant Directories website.
This article covers generating the required certificate request, installing the SSL certificate, and activating SSL on the website.
Requirements
An active SSL certificate purchased from a third-party SSL provider is required before completing the installation process.
Please note that cPanel's interface may change over time. While the appearance of the dashboard may vary, the steps outlined in this article remain the same.
Access the cPanel Dashboard
Log in to the website's Admin Area and navigate to Developer Hub > cPanel Dashboard.

Open the SSL/TLS Manager
Within cPanel, locate the Security section and click SSL/TLS.

Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
Before an SSL certificate can be issued by the SSL provider, a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) must be generated.
In the SSL/TLS Manager, click Install and Manage SSL for Your Site (HTTPS) and follow the prompts provided by cPanel.
For additional guidance, refer to the cPanel documentation:
https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/68Docs/Generate+an+SSL+Certificate+and+Signing+Request

Install the SSL Certificate
Once the SSL provider has issued the certificate, return to the SSL/TLS Manager in cPanel.
Click Manage SSL Sites to begin the installation process.
When prompted:
- Select the domain that the SSL certificate will be installed on.
- Paste the certificate information provided by the SSL provider into the Certificate (CRT) field.
- Paste the corresponding private key into the Private Key (KEY) field.
- Click Install Certificate to complete the installation.
For additional guidance, refer to the cPanel documentation:
https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/68Docs/Install+an+SSL+Certificate+on+a+Domain

Enable SSL in Brilliant Directories
After the SSL certificate has been successfully installed, return to the website's Admin Area and navigate to Settings > Domain Manager > SSL Security.
Click the highlighted link to enable SSL for the website.

SSL Renewal Information
When a third-party SSL certificate is installed manually, it must also be renewed manually whenever it expires. Failure to renew the certificate before its expiration date may result in security warnings being displayed to visitors.
Managed SSL Certificate Option
As an alternative, the Brilliant Directories team can acquire, install, activate, and maintain an SSL certificate through the SSL Certificate Add-On.
As long as the add-on subscription remains active, the certificate will be monitored and replaced before it expires.
