Installing a Third-Party SSL Certificate
A third-party SSL certificate can be installed through cPanel and then enabled in Brilliant Directories. The certificate provider remains responsible for issuing and renewing the certificate.
Requirements
An active certificate, its private key, and any required certificate-authority bundle are required. cPanel navigation can change, but the certificate tools remain under SSL/TLS.
Generate a Certificate Signing Request
- Open Developer Hub > cPanel Dashboard.
- Open SSL/TLS.
- Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for the live domain and submit it to the certificate provider.

Install the Certificate
- After the provider issues the certificate, return to SSL/TLS and open Manage SSL Sites.
- Select the correct domain.
- Paste the certificate into Certificate (CRT), the matching key into Private Key (KEY), and the authority bundle when supplied.
- Select Install Certificate.

Enable and Verify SSL in Brilliant Directories
Return to Settings > Domain Manager > SSL. Select I already installed a certificate — check for it when offered, then select Check again to refresh the status.
Renewal
A manually installed certificate must be renewed and reinstalled before it expires. An expired certificate can produce browser security warnings.

Brilliant Directories can issue, install, and maintain a certificate through the Managed SSL Security Add-On.
