We made updates to several default widgets this week. If you customized any of these widgets and want to update them, you can find the latest code in the corresponding default widget. Please remember that if you have a custom version of any of these widgets, the latest updates will not be pushed to your website.


Admin Design

  • Released a redesigned Manage Add-Ons page. Every add-on is now shown as a card in one library that can be filtered by All, Active or Inactive, searched and narrowed by category. Active add-ons link to their documentation, and the picture or title of an inactive add-on opens its purchase window.
  • Improved the Widget Manager search so a widget whose ID number is typed in is listed first.
  • Updated the Documentation link on the Private Member Chats page so it opens the new Private Chats article.

Member Leads

  • Improved the Member Leads page. Suggested members on the map can now be matched straight from their pin with a new Match menu, the lead hover card shows the page the lead came from and whether an Admin added it, and each member card shows its match totals by status. In addition, the Pending and Declined Member Activity filters load faster on websites with many matches, a lead can be opened directly from a link that uses its ID, and exported files can no longer carry spreadsheet formulas.
  • Improved the speed of Find Matches, which now loads in seconds instead of more than a minute on websites with a very large number of members. In addition, Find Matches now lists members in the same order as the website's member search results.

  • Fixed an issue that allowed a member to accept a lead that has a price without purchasing it. The member is now sent to the purchase page.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed Admin lead actions, such as saving a note, changing a status or deleting a lead, to be run without signing in to the Admin.
  • Fixed an issue that caused HTML entered in a lead's name, message or notes to run instead of being displayed as text in the Member Dashboard, the lead emails and the Admin.

Admin Access & Security

  • Fixed an issue that allowed an Admin with two-factor sign-in turned on to sign in without the emailed code when the Admin was opened from a different web address.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed a deactivated Admin account to keep using the Admin while its browser was still signed in.
  • Improved the sign-in link used right after a free trial sign-up so it can be used only once and expires after ten minutes.
  • Improved password handling so passwords longer than 128 characters are refused for Admins and members, including at sign-up, in the password reset tool and through the API.

  • Strengthened the actions on the members list, such as deleting a member and the bulk actions, so they only run from a genuine request made in the Admin.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the Delete File link on leads, form inquiries and member forms to remove files other than the uploaded file. It now removes only that upload, and only from a genuine Admin request.
  • Strengthened the protection around a website's custom Admin widgets so they can only work with that website's own data.
  • Strengthened Text Labels so only the code a label came with by default can be saved in it, including when labels are updated through the API.
  • Strengthened several older Admin save actions, such as saving email templates, so only the expected values are accepted and stored.

Sign Up & Login

  • Strengthened member sign-up so a new account's plan, active status and Verified and Featured settings are always set by the website, and the reCAPTCHA check can no longer be skipped, including at checkout on websites using Stripe. In addition, a sign-up whose payment fails no longer leaves a partly created member behind.

  • Improved how new member accounts are created so each account's private token is random instead of being based on the time of sign-up.

  • Fixed an issue that allowed specially crafted values sent to the member sign-up, claim listing and sign-in link actions to reach the website's database directly.
  • Strengthened Google and Facebook sign-in so the system confirms with Google or Facebook that the person signing in owns the linked account.
  • Fixed an issue that caused signing up with Google or Facebook from a claim listing link to create a new member instead of claiming the listing. In addition, only listings that can be claimed are taken over this way.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the First Name field to be missing from a plan's sign-up form when the plan had a free trial that does not require a credit card.

Checkout & Billing

  • Fixed an issue that caused a paid sign-up through an external payment page to log the new member in and grant sign-up and referral credits before the invoice was paid. The member now sees a payment pending message until the payment is confirmed.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed a member to see the names and email addresses of other members from the billing page in the Member Dashboard.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed an outdated billing address on the website to show the website's billing records to visitors who were not signed in. That address now returns page not found.
  • Improved the billing and payment pages so values taken from the page address are always displayed as plain text, and the page shown after a successful payment only sends the member on to addresses on the website itself.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a member's Subscriptions tab in the Admin to show “There is Currently No Data to Display” for several seconds when the member had a long billing history. The tab now loads right away.

Form Manager

  • Improved the Forms Inbox export. Columns are now headed by the questions instead of internal field names and follow the order of the form, Yes/No answers show as Yes or No, and Dropdown, Radio and Checkbox answers show their option labels, including labels that contain a comma.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Reply in the Forms Inbox to split an email address containing a plus sign, such as name+tag@example.com, into two addresses. In addition, pressing Enter in the email composer no longer sends the email.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Dropdown List, Radio and Checkbox fields whose option values are numbers starting at 0, such as a No / Yes choice, to save the option's label instead of its value.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the cursor to jump to the end of the Database Variable and label boxes while adding options to a Dropdown List, Checkboxes or Radio field, which scrambled the text being typed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Admin screens that edit a record through a form to show the default form, without the fields the website had added to its own copy.

Members & Accounts

  • Improved saving a member profile from the Member Dashboard so only the fields on the member's own form can be changed. Fields reserved for the Admin, such as the verified badge, can no longer be changed by the member.
  • Fixed an issue that caused HTML entered in a member review to run instead of being displayed as text when the review was viewed or edited in the Admin, in the Member Dashboard, in review emails and on the website.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the server's firewall to block some members from the website for several weeks after they logged in, because of the town name saved in their browser.

  • Fixed an issue that caused a sub-account's categories to be replaced with the parent account's categories when the parent member edited the sub-account in the Member Dashboard.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented members from saving their Listing Details in the Member Dashboard in some cases when their top category had no sub-categories.

  • Fixed an issue that caused clicks on a member's website, booking and social media links to be counted together under Social Links in the Profile Analytics add-on instead of under each link's own category.

Sitemaps & SEO

  • Added a Noindex, Follow Search Results With Fewer Than N Results setting to the URL Rules tab of Advanced Settings. Member search results pages that find fewer members than the number entered are now marked for search engines not to index.

  • Added a Keyword Search Results Limit setting to the Search tab of Advanced Settings, 500 by default, which stops post and member keyword searches at that number of results so crawlers can no longer page through them hundreds of pages deep. In addition, keyword search pages are now kept out of search engines, post tag links ask search engines not to follow them, and an issue that caused Load More to show the results of a different search on websites that cache search results was fixed.

  • Fixed an issue that caused warnings in Google Search Console for the structured data of job posts. The job's expiration date, city and postal code are now included, a salary of zero is no longer published, and a salary written in another number format, such as 50.000,00, is now sent with the correct amount.

  • Fixed an issue that caused a member profile's structured data to point to its location pages with addresses that did not match those pages.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the sub-category to be missing from the breadcrumb on member search results pages whose address ends in a sub-category.

Websites & Hosting

  • Fixed an issue that caused the “Please wait while your product is activated” window to stay open indefinitely when activating an add-on such as the Enhanced Hosting Bundle, even though the activation had succeeded.
  • Fixed an issue that caused white-label accounts to still show some Brilliant Directories items, such as the New Website button, the app notifications panel, Video Tutorials and the Support Tickets and Billing pages. In addition, the email sent after a password change no longer names Brilliant Directories for these accounts.
  • Fixed an issue that caused files uploaded to a website in the hours after it moved to a new server to be missing on the new server.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Database Update in Install New Updates to keep reappearing after it was installed on websites that had never sent an email.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented websites on a few country domain endings, such as .ve, from receiving a security certificate automatically.

Search

  • Improved the website's search forms so the words and values a visitor searched for are always displayed back as plain text.

  • Fixed an issue that caused search suggestions to take minutes to load on websites with a large number of posts, which also held up the search results page.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented a member search from finding a name containing an apostrophe when the apostrophe was typed in a different style, such as ’ instead of '.

  • Fixed an issue that caused an event search by date range to leave out events on the last day of the range when the Recurring Events add-on was turned on.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a category or sub-category saved in the Admin with a slash in its URL, for example “Emergency & 24/7”, to return page not found.

Developer Hub & API

  • Fixed an issue that allowed an API key with permission to read website settings to also read the billing connection settings and the previous values saved for each setting.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed a website's Webhooks settings to be changed without signing in to the Admin.
  • Fixed an issue that caused widgets turned off in the Widget Manager to still be returned by the API.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented custom Admin tools added to a website, such as those from third-party plugins, from opening in some cases, and that showed an error in place of any form displayed inside them.

Photos & File Uploads

  • Improved photo uploads so the GPS location, camera details and other hidden information stored in a photo are removed when it is uploaded through the Media Manager or by a member, while the photo keeps its correct orientation.
  • Retired an outdated photo upload method that allowed photos to be added to any member's portfolio or album without signing in, and that saved photos without a display image. Photo uploads in the Member Dashboard work as before.

Domain Manager

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Diagnostics panel to report the security certificate as Needs fixing on healthy websites.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented domains ending in .co.za and similar endings from being connected, reporting that the extension did not exist.

Newsletters & Email

  • Fixed an issue that caused emails sent from the Admin, such as Email Member, welcome and approval emails and lead emails from Match Leads, to use the default design instead of the website's own customized Default Email Template on some websites. In addition, Find Matches again uses the website's own customized member search.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the link in the password retrieval email to not work when the email was sent to a member from the Admin or through the API.

Website Settings

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Google Maps alert to report the Maps JavaScript API as switched off when only the Geocoding API was off. The alert now names the Geocoding API and gives the steps to turn it on.

Web Pages

  • Fixed an issue that caused parts of a page to be displayed out of order when one of its widgets failed, for example a member profile banner shown beside the sidebar instead of above it.
